Exterior Tile

From building facades to personal spas, there are many exciting applications for exterior tile. Materials Marketing carries a variety of products that can be used in both low- and high-traffic outdoor areas:

Natural Stone: This highly durable and long-lasting product is a classic choice, and we offer a way to use natural stone without the extra weight and cost. Utilizing specialty machines, our limestone is “chopped” down to create a thin veneer that has a rough and uneven exterior surface and a smooth back side for easy installation. Entire walls can be covered in our thin veneer cladding, or it can be used sparingly around corners.

Cement: Cement tile, sometimes referred to as “encaustic,” dates back to the Victorian era. To achieve the unique colorways and patterns, molds are produced, and each color is filled in individually. Once the mold is filled, a hydraulic press applies pressure to finalize the tile. As with any flooring material, there will be subtle color variations. Sealing your tile once per year will help protect it from the elements.

Ceramic: Ceramic tiles are a popular choice with a long history. You see them in haciendas and busy restaurants, historic landmarks and churches across the world. Ceramic tiles may be glazed or raw, as in the case of terra cotta. With hundreds of colors and shapes to choose from, your options are virtually limitless. Ceramics are generally easy to maintain, although a patina will develop with time. Top-rated sealers and annual cleanings will keep your tile looking new.

Glass: Glass tile can be used to create one-of-a-kind pieces for your outdoor oasis. Use it to decorate the bottom of your pool or as an accent in your personal spa. Many of the glass tile products we carry are created using recycled glass. As the glass is mixed together and heated to incredibly high temperatures, dyes are added to achieve a unique hue or shading. Glass is most commonly seen in mosaics but is also available in more standard, larger sizes.
