Picking a Kitchen Backsplash

When making kitchen updates, one of the simplest and easiest ways to spice up your space is to update the backsplash. This is a high impact update that you can do relatively inexpensively, compared to remodeling the entire space. But, there are so many types of backsplashes to choose from! We have broken down four of the most popular options to help you choose what is right for your home.

Glass Tile Backsplash

First, we will look at glass tiles. Glass tiles are typically offered in mosaic patterns but have recently been incorporated into larger scale pieces. They are a great way to create a bold and unique look in your space. Coming in a wide range of bright colors, they can definitely add that pop and energy your space is looking for. The shiny and reflective look of the tiles also creates a modern feel, perfect for contemporary spaces.

Ceramic Tile Backsplash

Now, ceramic tiles are one of the most classic options. Do you know how this popular tile is made? Ceramic tiles around the world are clay-based products. The clay is extracted and formed into various sizes and shapes. It is fired once in a kiln. Then glazes are mixed using different elements and formulas and are applied to the pieces. After the glaze has been applied, the tile is fired once again at high temperatures to yield the colors. The temperature and the amount of time the tile is fired can drastically change its color and hue. This traditional process can be made to fit almost any styled space. Ceramics come in neutrals, bold colors, and a variety of shapes and styles. The options are almost endless!

Mosaic Backsplash

If you are looking for a real art piece in your kitchen, mosaics are the way to go. From simplistic patterns to ornate murals, we can help you create a stunning feature. We use water-jet cut mosaics, whereas other mosaics are either cut with saw blades or formed in molds. These can range from simple ½” square mosaic sheets to ornate designs that use a mixture of natural stone, glass, and metal pieces. The best part – this option is incredibly green and sustainable! Using recycled materials, you can feel confident knowing your backsplash choice is reducing your carbon footprint.

Natural Stone Backsplash

Finally, natural stone may be one of the most versatile material options to choose from when picking your backsplash. With options like marble, travertine, and limestone, you can create a look that ranges from elegant to rustic. We also offer over 10 finishes, from the refined polished look to the more aged and patinaed look like our Maison finish. Whatever you choose, natural stone will look classic for decades to come.
