Nestled on the corner of Broadway and Austin Highway is MATERIAL Bespoke Stone + Tile's new San Antonio Showroom. The space, originally built as a Mobile gas station in 1929, has been used as a commercial and retail location for the last 37 years.

CEO and President Tim Roberts always had his eyes on the classic building. Roberts knew it would be the perfect location to expand the team from the Josephine location to Alamo Heights.

"We have long felt a historic location for our showrooms made sense," he stated in the initial press release.

"We pride ourselves in utilizing natural stone — a material with thousands of years of history, even before it is quarried — to create beautiful spaces meant to withstand the test of time."

Ready to expand, the MATERIAL Team was up for the challenge of preserving and celebrating the building's historic charm. Most of Mobil's stunning embellishments remain in the showroom, from the original rest stop bathroom signs to the square columns and tile roof.

The original blue tile fireplace surround is an instant focal point of the space. Guests can experience its beauty first-hand in our fireplace gallery. MATERIAL partner Denise McGaha and our design team fabricated gorgeous marble surrounds available to view on-site.

December officially marks one year since the grand reopening in the heart of Alamo Heights.
